The History of the Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Previously known as the chamber of commerce and agriculture of the south, the chamber of Sfax was founded in 1895. Its territory represented then all the southern governorates of Tunisia.

Under its impulse, the port of Sfax was reconstructed and the railroad line Sfax-Gafsa was implemented.

In 1929 the Chamber was at the origin of the creation of the Oil department in Sfax that it managed for some years.

Become totally Tunisian from 1954, she was renamed Chamber of Commerce of the South in 1958, then Chamber of commerce and industry of the South in 1988 after the Change of November 7th, 1987 and in application of the new measures of Chambers of Commerce.

And it is in 1992 when it was called the Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry. So far, the CCIS continues to propose its services to companies in a changing economic environment.
